What is a Clutch Slave Cylinder?

The clutch slave cylinder is mounted on the gearbox or bell housing. It converts the hydraulic pressure from the master cylinder into mechanical force to actuate the clutch release fork and bearing, enabling clutch disengagement.

Clutch Slave Cylinder Structure

Clutch Slave Cylinder
Component Name (English) Function Description (English)
Cylinder Body Houses hydraulic pressure and drives the piston — the core of the clutch slave cylinder.
Piston Stop Block Limits the piston’s stroke to prevent overextension and potential internal damage.
Cup Seal (Sealing Ring) Ensures leak-proof sealing and maintains internal hydraulic pressure.
Piston Receives hydraulic force and transmits motion to the push rod for clutch operation.
Piston Stopper / Retaining Stop Prevents the piston from moving out of position and protects internal components.
Dust Boot / Rubber Cover Shields against dust and moisture, extending the service life of the cylinder.
Clutch Fork Push Rod Assembly Transfers piston movement to the clutch fork, enabling engagement and disengagement.
Bleeder Screw Allows air removal from the hydraulic system for better clutch responsiveness.
Fluid Inlet Connector / Hose Adapter Connects to the brake fluid supply line, ensuring smooth and efficient fluid intake.

Clutch Slave Cylinder Working Principle

01

Initial State (Clutch Pedal Released)

No hydraulic pressure in the system. Piston and push rod remain in default position. The clutch stays engaged.
02

Clutch Pedal Depressed

Hydraulic fluid flows from the master cylinder into the slave cylinder. The piston moves outward, pushing the rod and actuating the clutch fork.
03

Clutch Fully Disengaged

Piston reaches maximum extension. The release fork fully disengages the clutch, disconnecting engine from transmission.
04

Clutch Pedal Released

Return spring pushes the piston back. Hydraulic fluid flows back to the master cylinder. The push rod retracts and the clutch re-engages.
05

System Refill and Reset

If rapid return creates vacuum, brake fluid from the reservoir refills the system via the master cylinder’s compensation mechanism.

Our Product Advantages

Material

High-strength aluminum alloy (e.g. ZL111) body, treated with T6 heat treatment and sandblasting for enhanced corrosion and pressure resistance.

Sealing System

All sealing cups are from Switzerland’s Datwyler, ensuring superior heat, oil, and pressure resistance.

Precision Machining

Manufactured using 4-axis CNC machines and deep-hole drilling, ensuring high concentricity and precision fit between cylinder and piston.

Testing Procedures

Each unit is tested for air tightness, vacuum performance, dimensions, appearance, and durability—guaranteeing zero-defect delivery.

Compatibility

Compatible with major brands like Toyota, VW, GM, Hyundai, Ford, and exported to over 80 countries.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I tell if the clutch slave cylinder is failing?

• Soft clutch pedal or poor return
• Clutch slipping or difficult shifting
• Hydraulic fluid leaks or low fluid level
• Unusual noises or incomplete disengagement

Does the slave cylinder require regular replacement?

Not regularly, but replacement is necessary when seals degrade, leaks occur, or system performance drops.

Do you support non-standard customization?

Yes, we support custom development based on samples or drawings, including design, prototyping, and mass production.
